Hello and Happy Saturday! I have updated the shop with some fabric scrap packs! Great way to get lots of variety for a good deal 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend!
I have been knitting a lot these days and rarely sewing unless I have to. I go through spurts of not wanting to sew at all. Does anyone else? Then the desire always seems to come back with a vengeance only to wane again a while later. I am really enjoying learning to knit. I have finished a few projects and just finished my first shawl. The pattern is called Mara and it is by Madeline Tosh. The yarn is also by MadelineTosh DK in Nebula. It is so beautiful! I cannot believe I made it! I wore it all day yesterday and I was so cozy warm. Now I am on a shawl binge. I really want to learn lace. My Ravelry queue is full of things I want to try. You can find my Mara project here.
Happy Sunday! 🙂
Well hello! Today is the first day of one of my favorite months 🙂 I love February. I love Valentines Day. I love that the days are getting longer and the sun is shining more. I am loving the weather this winter! 🙂
This little lady turned 6 months old yesterday! Can you even handle those cheeks? I confess that I cannot. I eat up those cheeks all.day.long. She is just blossoming after a hard decision to end nursing her. She was not growing properly and was constantly angry/hungry. My milk was pretty much gone I discovered. First time I have ever had that happen. So we gave her formula and she guzzled it like she had been famished in the desert. She also started sleeping more than one hour at a time that night! In the last month she has packed on 4-5 pounds alone!
She is also eating solids like a champ! She loves anything and everything! Way to go Ellie 🙂 She has also discovered her new love….jumping in her Jumperoo. She LOVES it. She also loves to give very slobbery kisses and cut her first tooth earlier this week! The second one is about to break through, should only be a day or two more. She has been very pleasant even though I know she has been uncomfortable.
She also appears to know her siblings names. I am not kidding. We have tested this several times. When asked where Rowan is, she will look around until she sees him and lock her eyes on him grinning so big. Same with Asher and Violet. It is so cool!
She has discovered her right foot. Not her left yet. She also loves to roll around on the floor but has not figured out how to roll onto her tummy yet. She loves to make spit bubbles and squeal at the top of her lungs. When she sees me when I go to get her up from naps she squeals and pants like a puppy and smiles as huge as she can. She is pretty much the most adorable thing ever 🙂 She is also very ticklish and loves to be tickled.
Just look at those chubby little knee caps 🙂
So, baby girl…..you are amazing. I want to freeze time, you are growing far too fast. I love seeing your little personality emerging. You are just so sweet and love to be around people. We love you little Elsie.

p.s. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Pack Family fundraiser! There are still loads of goodies to buy in support of them! Go here for more details.
I feel like a stranger. It has been so dang long since I last blogged. My life has been crazy to say the least and to top it all off, my baby got an ear infection, I got strept throat and my basements flooded twice. But I am still kicking. It is late and I need to go to bed, but I just wanted to let people who have been asking if I would release larger sizes for the Ruffled Baby Boots pattern and would I sell the pattern to my quilted tie on bib? The answer to both is, YES! I finally buckled down and made a 6-12 month size of the boots pattern and listed a new bib pattern in my shop. I have also created a combo pack at a discount for anyone who purchases the patterns together. Everyone who already purchased the boots pattern should have gotten an Etsy convo from me with download links to the update. If you didn’t recieve a notice, please contact me and I will get you the new pattern. Thanks friends! I will be back with more soon 🙂
Hello everyone! I want to get started showcasing the goodies that will be donated to the Pack family, but first I want to say a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who pitched in and so generously gave of their time, talent and money to this. It makes me feel so happy that the money raised will go to the Packs and aid in their recovery.
If this is the first you are hearing about this family, they were hit with tragedy over the Holidays when on Christmas Eve they were hit by another car on their way home from a party. They were all critically injured and on Christmas Day their sweet baby boy Colum passed away from his injuries. Their son Finn and Ryan have discharged from the hospital and are doing well! Kelly is still in the hospital undergoing surgeries and therapy. The driver that caused the accident was not insured and the financial burden resulting has been placed on this sweet family. The money raised from these sales will directly go to the family via Paypal or trust funds set up at various banks. Please see the website set up for them for more information on ways to donate if interested.
The way I have set this fundraiser up is that I will provide links and descriptions to the items being sold for donations and then the communication will then go between the buyer and actual seller of the goods. Each seller has come up with an amount to donate that will be agreed upon between the parties and is stated here in this post. Receipt of donation will be provided by the seller (be sure to let them know if you want an actual paper copy of donation). For all etsy stores participating, the items being donated are tagged with “kellypack” to be easily searchable. You can type that in on Etsy’s main page and see a list of everything all at once.
Sound good? Good! Let’s get started!
A reader named Jessica Prescott contacted me wanting to donate some of her sales. He runs two companies and has generously offered 50% of all sales to go towards the Pack Family! Please let her know you are purchasing for the Packs. Here is a little bit about her:
I am a stay at home mom of 2 boys ages 1 and 5. I just got married in Sept and I live in Wisconsin and I will be going back to school in the fall of 2012.
She has a storefront through Tastefully Simple. Here is what Tastefully Simple says they are all about:
We offer a wide selection of convenient, easy-to-prepare foods designed to help people spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the rest of their lives. Our products are available through independent Tastefully Simple consultants primarily at home taste-testing parties nationwide.
They have loads of stuff that would be perfect to prepare for Superbowl Sunday! I think the Buffalo Bleu Cheese Dip sounds especially delicious!
She also has a storefront through Avon. We all know what Avon is, right? They sell great makeup and beauty products at an affordable price! I really love their lip glosses and want to try the Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation!
A reader named Katie also contacted me wanting to help. She has offered 100% (minus fees) of the proceeds to the Packs! She makes darling tag blankies and decorative clipboards. She is offering two blankies and one clipboard! If these sell quickly she will come up with some more donations! You can contact her at katielarsen4395@msn.com to purchase. Here is what she had to say about the tag blankies:
These blankets are the perfect gift for a newborn baby. They make great little lovelys for them to carry around. You can also hook links onto the ribbons and put toys on them. Babies love all the different textures and Mom loves that its small, easy to throw in a diaper bag or carseat and won’t get dragged on the floor like a favorite blanket when they begin walking. $5 each.
Here is a little about the clipboard:
Check out these darling new clipboards. Small clipboards are $5 each. They are a perfect gift for a school teacher, kids, work great in cars for kids, recipe holder, you name it it works!

My children could not stop talking about all the things at her table 🙂 I made sure I came home with something she made. Just gorgeous. Amy is offering these items with 100% of the proceeds (minus fees) going to the Packs. She is going to feature these on her blog and the transaction will take place through email (sweetpeafelts [at] gmail (dot) com) and Paypal.

Good morning friends! As another year begins and I reflect upon the last year I feel happy 🙂 I have a beautiful family, a warm home and many friends who are wonderful. I hope all my online friends are having a wonderful New Year!
Remember yesterday when I told you I had a fantastic and HUGE giveaway? Well, it’s time, my friends 🙂 I am so excited about this one!
Let me introduce you to Ericka and Jessica of Violette Field Threads
They are the creative geniuses behind Violette Field Threads patterns. They are best friends too, how sweet is that? Here is a little about them:
Violette Field Threads is the the creation of us, Ericka and Jessica. We are best friends that have a passion for design and sewing. We both began sewing from an early age. After we each married and had daughters, our sewing interests turned to children’s clothing and accessories. We both created our own boutique clothing lines and the demand quickly outgrew what we each could supply on our own. Our real passion is in the design and creative side of our work, so we joined forces and Violette Field Threads PDF Patterns and Tutorials was born.
We are inspired by our daughters, vintage fashion, and couture designs. We strive to stay on the cutting edge of fashion and trends. Our patterns are thoughtfully written down to smallest detail. This allows for even beginning sewers to create designer looks. We are happy to allow our customers to sell the products they create from our patterns on a small scale. We enjoy knowing that we are helping other talented people have a successful business, and in turn they are helping us.
xoxo,
Jessica & Ericka

What are your plans? We are going to a party later today and I am planning a super exciting HUGE giveaway on the blog that will debut tomorrow on New Years Day! Have a happy and safe holiday! See you in 2012!
This beautiful family has had tragedy strike them. Ryan Pack (the father) grew up with me and was always the nicest guy. Kelly also went to high school with me. On Christmas Eve, they were in a horrible car crash on their way back home to American Fork, Utah from a Christmas party. They were hit head on at high speed by a man driving a suburban who veered over the median and directly into their way. All four family members were in critical condition. Their sweet 18 month old, Colum, passed away on Christmas day. He suffered a spinal cord injury that could not be remedied. He died in his mother’s arms.
Their three year old son Finn, has been released from the hospital and is reported to be doing well, but Kelly and Ryan remain in critical care with months ahead of them full of surgeries and therapy.
My heart has not felt this heavy in a long time. I cannot seem to focus on my own life. I cannot stop thinking and crying about this sweet family and this cruel event. I cannot fathom the pain of losing a child. The timing of it all. The Holidays and Kelly’s birthday being yesterday. I have been wishing there was something to do or say to lighten their burden ever so slightly.
The website being run by their family members has a link for monetary donations. I wanted to do something but knowing I didn’t have a lot of extra money at this time of year I thought maybe I could put my talents to good use. I thought maybe I could make things and donate the money to their paypal account.
So, here is my call for help. Is there anyone who wants to join me? It can be anything! What I want to do is write up a blog post with detailed pictures and links to things people want to donate sales from. I would love to have loads of links to direct people to. I plan on donating 100% of my personal proceeds to the family, but really, any percent would be fantastic!
If you read this and would like to participate, please email me at sew she sews at gmail (dot) com. You would not have to ship anything to me, just a write up of what you are selling, pictures, links to the items in your shop and the amount of the sale you would be donating (this info would need to be specified within your item description in your shop). Then when the item was purchased, you would ship the item along with a copy of the payment receipt to their paypal account. Don’t have a Paypal account? Check here for other ways to donate. Simple really. I am using my Etsy shop which is fantastic and free to set up. You can use whichever store front you feel most comfortable with.
This does not have to be limited to crafters! Sell vintage clothing? Perfect! Sell digital scrapbook supplies? Perfect! Anything that can fetch a dollar is game!
I would really like to shoot for launching this whole thing by next weekend.
This is the perfect opportunity to practice what this time of year is all about. Serving our fellow man. Their road is going to be so hard and painful, please let’s help them a little financially to lighten their load a bit. Every penny helps. Thanks friends and Happy Holidays!
xoxo
