Wee Vintage Wednesday 10/12/2011

Is October really almost half over???  Oh.my.word.  Time flies.  I guess I should hurry and finish the kids costumes, I am going to blink and Halloween will be here!

I have been sick as a dog on a log for the last few days.  I came down with strept throat.  My sweet Violet girl got it right after me.  No one else (fingers crossed) seems to have caught it.  It is a nasty disease!  I could barely move or eat.  My husband has been a champ doing everything that needed to be done 🙂  Way to go awesome husband!  So, that is the reason for my absence.  I have not lifted a finger to make anything.  I am starting to feel a bit better so that is gonna change soon.

Today is wednesday and you know what that means!  Vintage clothes with the wee ones 🙂  I sadly took no pictures this week since I have been sicker than sick but these I had on my hard drive from a few weeks ago.  Nice save, I know! 😉

This week features my little Rowan.  He is mischievous and then some.  You can tell just by looking at him.  See that apple?  You may think, oh good, he is getting in his fruits and veggies.  Don’t let the fact that he is holding an entire apple fool you!  He will only touch them in the whole and uncut state.  Cut that apple, it becomes the worst thing ever and he will not touch it with a ten foot pole.  So, whole apple.  Takes a few bites.  Decides that he is done with it.  Wants a new apple.  You try to give him the barely eaten apple.  It is now not new and he will have nothing to do with it.  Cut it?  Forget that, remember?  So, yeah……good times.

Back to the clothes……he is sporting some pants that I made from some vintage pirate fabric that I have been hoarding for years and years.  I got it from a friend who inherited it from a cute old lady who had been saving it in her stash for years and could no longer sew due to her poor eyesight.  It is pretty adorable/awesome.  It has nothing on the selvage, which is common with vintage fabrics.  The liner fabric is from a vintage sheet I found.  It has little blue anchors all over it.  Perfect match I would say 🙂 I am letting go of a FQ of it in my shop.  I am hoarding the rest thankyouverymuch.

The blonde pirate there is my favorite.  There are so many fun things on this fabric.  Canons, ships, guns, treasure chests and pirates.  Any boy’s dream!

We made a shirt change after a large water spill and headed outside for a change of scene.  I have noticed that when we go outside to take pictures that he (a) stays on the driveway and (b) will not look at me.  Haha!

In other news, reviews from my pattern testers are starting to roll in!  I am dying over the cute boots that I am seeing and all the great tips to make the pattern better!  I wanted to share some that Amber (One Shabby Chick) made for her nephew.  I am so glad that they look equally as cute for boys by omitting the ruffle!  Adorable, thanks Amber!

I think my love for that Heather Ross clothesline fabric from Far Far Away III has reached an all time high.  So adorable.

Well, I think that covers it.  Have a wonderful wednesday!  I will link up to Little Vintage Style and Small Style once they are up.

Wee Vintage Wednesday 9/21/11

This sweet vintage knit shirt reminds me so much of my childhood.  My brothers wore shirts just like it all the time and when I found it at the thrift shop a few weeks ago it made me feel all sentimental 🙂

I remember having a few shirts like this too!  They just scream late 1970’s-early 1980’s.  Rowan likes to rock his vintage on down to the bus stop.  That is where we are headed in these photos.

He loves this daily ritual.  He gets so excited when it is time to go and get “Da Tids” (the kids) 🙂  He is so fascinated with every little thing he sees.  He loves to see all the animals out and about.  He is a little animal lover.

His favorite thing to find on our little walk? Rocks or Docks as he lovingly refers to them.  He simply cannot get enough of the rocks.  He ooohs and aaaahhs over them like they are the most amazing thing he has ever seen 🙂  It is pretty adorable.

He also fancies flowers.  Particularly Dandelions 🙂

He is such a fun little guy 🙂

Todays vintage wears are brought to you by HealthTex and Minnetonka Moccasins  🙂  Pants are thrifted and are Baby Gap.

Wee Vintage Wednesdays

I recently came across a blog called Hart & Sew (thanks Pinterest!) and about fell over at all the eye candy going on over there!  She is a cute mom with fantastic style who also loves to dress her wee ones in vintage clothing (she also sells children’s vintage items in her Etsy shop!).  She does a feature every wednesday with the cutest vintage clothes and encourages her readers to dress their little ones in vintage, blog about it and share their link!  I think it is so fun!  So, I think I will try to make every wed. a wee vintage post.  Sometimes it will be thrift store finds and other times it will be things I have upcycled using vintage fabrics or vintage patterns!  Here are a few posts I have already participated in.  If this makes you feel all squishy inside, like me, why don’t you join in the fun? 🙂  I entered myself twice this week, hope that is ok!  I had already made Violet a darling shirt from a vintage sheet.

I recently found a bunch of wonderful boy vintage items at the thrift store.  Frankly that doesn’t happen very often so I was really stoked!  I love to dress Rowan in vintage but I only had a couple of pieces for him that I inherited from my mother in law (my husband used to wear them as a baby).  You can see one outfit here.

The overalls are the thrift store find and the shirt is from the above mentioned outfit.  He is only going to have a few weeks to wear these sadly, it is turning cold here now and these for sure will not fit him next summer 😦  Oh well, enjoy it while it lasts, right? I just love overall shorts on chunky little thighs! 🙂  I also love the nautical detail on the shorts.  I love nautical themes on clothing.  I just found a vintage sheet with little anchors all over it, but that is for another day 😉  The reds in the shirt and shorts matched perfectly!

The moccasins are another thrift store find and are vintage Minnetonka.  We have a couple pairs of their moccasins, so adorable! 🙂

Outfit details:

Shirt and overalls – vintage (shirt was my husbands as a baby)

Shoes – vintage Minnetonka moccasins.

For more wee little eye candy check out Small Style as well!

Have a fantastic Wednesday! 🙂
