Pay It Forward – A Flea Market Fancy Giveaway

CONTEST IS CLOSED!!!! Thank you for all of your entries!  Winner is announced HERE as well as information on the ebay auction that is now live!  Please come and support this cause 🙂

*ETA I have uploaded a photo of the charms that will be auctioned off!  I am planning on thursday evening for the auction launch.  I will announce the winner of this contest and give you all the details for the auction then.  I will also post the info to flickr.  Thanks for all the support and help with this.  In my latest blog post I talk a bit more about it.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

**Elizabeth of Oh Fransson was kind enough to donate some more freckles coins!  I have included a picture of them underneath the other coins.  Thanks Elizabeth!

Well, I finally did it.  I managed to gather all the Flea Market Fancy prints.  It was fun and frustrating and everything in between.  I am so glad to be done with that part and to move onto making the quilt.  There were so many people who were so kind to me and sent me fabrics, showed me where to buy them, bought them for me, looked at every shop in London…the list goes on.  It meant so much to me and touched my heart.  It made this quilt so much more meaningful than it had been before.

I want to pay it forward.  There are a couple of things I want to do.  First, I want to do a giveaway here on my blog.  Second, I want to do a charm pack on ebay as a charity listing for Somaly Mam.  If you don’t know about this cause already, please click the link and find out more.  I feel like I have to do something as a human being to this cause.  I am looking into how to run a charity auction and will keep everyone updated on the details.  It will not be for another week or so.

This giveaway is pretty great I think.  It is a coin from every single piece in the whole Flea Market Fancy line, including two freckles prints in red and aqua. It is over 40 coins, I am too tired to count them all out right now.  They measure 2.5″x5″ each.  This is the perfect way to get every print in the line 🙂

To enter is simple.  Leave me a comment.  Then I want you to do something on your honor.  I want you to go and do something nice for someone else.  It doesn’t have to be big, it can be a compliment to someone who seems down, smiling at someone….you get the picture.  Make sure in your comment that you leave a way for me to get a hold of you (i.e. blog, email, etc)

The contest will end on Wed. Sept. 9th.  That should give everyone ample time to enter if they want to.

Thanks for all of your kindness.  It has changed me and given me new perspective.  I love when that happens.  Thank you.

p.s. Some of the coins have been pre-washed.  Just FYI 🙂

  10. 11 amy August 31, 2009 at 6:16 am

How lovely will it be if they reprint FMF?
I don’t think anything compares to the bright cheerfulness of this line.
What a wondergul gesture for an amazing cause. It’s heartbreaking to think about what the world has come to. I have three daughters and I shudder at the thought of anyone being forced to live that type of life, which is no life at all.
Somaly is an amazing courageous woman with a huge heart.

I think perhaps I will also have an auction for the cause. Thank you.
    big hugs

Thanks for the giveaway. Yesterday we had a wildfire just up the mountain from us, over thirty houses were completely destroyed. Today I will be gathering up some clothes, and food to take to the shelter for the people who are now homeless. Thanks for the push I needed to “pay it forward”.

  27. 28 danabol August 31, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Sweetness and light I tell you. That is what your pay if forward pledge brings. And that Flea Market Fancy . . . well . . .it is 100% sweetness and light!!

  28. 29 Doris August 31, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Very generous, and you are right, the blogosphere make sthe world so much smaller and there are great, generous, and helpful people here…

What I am Paying Forward…a coworker of mine, single mom of two, recently moved into her Habitat for Humanity house. I am moving, and need to sell ALOT of stuff, and I could use the extra funds, but I realized this morning, she could use the STUFF more, and your post finalized that thought for me.

So I just called her to tell her I am giving her anything she wants out of our “donate and sell” pile, no strings, no payment accepted. She will be able to furnish a great deal of her home from our giveaways. She was literally in tears at the end of the phone call. Her gratitude was overflowing, I feel better, and I know she will continue the Pay It Forward love!

Oh, so gorgeous! Hope your ebay auction goes well… may have to check it out!

  109. 110 Jaime September 4, 2009 at 5:31 pm

What an awesome giveaway! I only have one lonely print of the FMF line but I’ve grown to love them all. They definitely need to reprint!!!

  110. 111 Deb C September 4, 2009 at 5:38 pm

    Jaime,
What a nice thoughtful gesture. I haven’t had a chance to peek at what you made yet, but I am going there next! I have to be honest, I wasn’t sure what all the hype was about, but the more I see of it, the more intrigued I’ve become. My favorite print is the gold & white floral. I am a firm believer in the ‘pay it forward’ philosophy. It makes you feel good, and you often have made someone elses day! I would love to win your drawing and would make a sampler wall quilt for my office.

It’s very kind of you to do this giveaway, I am sure it will make someone very happy. (plus of course all the people who are made happy by the people who left a comment. That’s a lot of good karma!)

  121. 122 Mandy September 5, 2009 at 1:22 pm

You might like to check out ‘The Toy Society’, I think it’s a wonderful idea. There is a Flickr group.

Wow! Thank-you for this opportunity. I know exactly what you mean about the kindness of others being life-changing. After meeting Stephen Lewis and hearing about his inspirational actions in Africa, a few colleagues and I started Be The Change, a website where teachers can find lesson plans K-12 all designed to educate around global citizenship and social justice. Hopefully helping to create a generation that appreicates what they are fortunate to have and that embodies “pay it forward”.

    Cheers,

This PIF thing is such a good idea! Count me in 🙂 I think the world in general would be a much better place if we all operated on the PIF philosophy more of the time, but that’s just my two cents. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win this fabulous giveaway, and for the reminder that we should all add a little more kindness to the world.

  143. 145 Emily September 9, 2009 at 9:12 pm
