If I did that I would layers the two layers if flannel right sides together. Then I would lay the cloth diaper on top of those two layers.

To sew I would leave the space on the side as normal and sew around the perimeter. Then flip right side out through the opening. Press and pin the opening closed. The diaper will now be inside between the two layers of flannel.

Sew and normally would in the tutorial, down the center of the diaper from top to bottom in one or two places and then around the perimeter to top stitch and close up the hole.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I'm looking for things to do for a baby shower of a friend of mine and these burp cloths are just the thing. I have a question though: is there any way of getting the whole diaper covered with the flannel? if so how would you do it? Thanks! I'm new to sewing and this project looks like a lot of fun and very practical!

I'm not sure where they're made, but I really like the Oso Cozy Indian Cotton pre-folds on Amazon. I order the medium size and they work well for me.
